Acupuncture
By far the best known modality of Chinese Medicine, acupuncture is the insertion of very thin needles in “acu-points” in order to stimulate Qi or internal energy. Extremely safe and surprisingly gentle in the hands of experienced practitioner, acupuncture is an effective means of addressing a host of issues from pain to organ dysfunction, immune system problems to mood disorders.
Chinese herbology
Sophisticated, accurate, and safe, Chinese herbs are well-suited to address a wide variety of health challenges. Gynecological issues, respiratory problems, gastrointestinal illness, and endocrinologic disorders are often treated with herbs in the forms of teas, pills, capsules, tablets, granules, syrups, salves, or liniments. Chinese Herbs are often used alongside of acupuncture to strongly treat difficult cases.
Therapeutic Exercise
Tai Chi Chuan and Qigong, are useful tools that give the client the opportunity to take an active part in their own healthcare. Whether they are used to address a pain condition, develop deep relaxation, or in order to maintain a healthy body, these arts are an integral part of Traditional Chinese Medicine.
Nutritional Counseling
Yet another way a client may participate in restoring and maintaining health, nutrition can greatly support the actions of acupuncture treatments and Chinese herbs. Whereas most problems can be helped by a sound diet, there are some issues that are only healed by focusing upon one’s diet.
Adjunctive Therapies
Traditional Chinese medicine utilizes a number of other modalities that may be unfamiliar to those of us in the West. Moxibustion, cupping, and electrical stimulation of the needles are a few examples of the other tools that are used in the clinic in conjunction with acupuncture and Chinese herbs to deepen the effectiveness of the treatments.
